Done With Chemo!!!

It's done! 18 treatments: 6 rounds of 3 each. After I recover from those very strong drugs, I'm looking forward to several months of feeling pretty good. Then... Well, we'll see.

College Visit

This past weekend we visited Allison at college. It was homecoming/parents weekend and the first time we'd seen her since Labor Day. Unfortunately she had a bad cold which put a damper on our festivities, though it didn't stop her from going to the homecoming dance Saturday night. It was good to see her and we're looking forward to her visit Thanksgiving weekend. Meanwhile, today, I'll be starting my 6th, and hopefully last, round of chemo.

Camping Again

My mother and brother arrived from Arizona on Tuesday and will be visiting for a few weeks. This past weekend we all went camping at Smokemont in Smoky Mountain National Park. We had a good time despite cold weather and a little rain. I even did a little light hiking, climbing the last half mile to the summit of Clingman's Dome and taking a short but steep trail near the campground. It felt good to strap the hiking boots on again - I hadn't used them since climbing out of the Grand Canyon on June 9.

Status Quo

I'm sorry I'm not updating this blog very frequently these days, but that's because there just isn't that much to say. I assure you that when things get more "exciting" I will do more frequent updates. In the meantime, I'm feeling pretty well. I guess I tolerate chemo pretty well since my worst symptom is a little nausea with (thankfully) no vomiting. My hair is even growing back and I don't understand how that can happen while I'm still on chemotherapy. I have about 1/4" of fuzz on my head. And the chemo and radiation have helped me tremendously. The severe pain I was in back in June & July has been reduced drastically and I've cut way back on the pain relievers. I'm scheduled for one more round of chemo the last week of October.
